What career opportunities does accounting present?

The accounting field encompasses a whole universe of career opportunities for those who are proficient in math and finance, the foundations necessary for mastery of basic accounting skills. The services of qualified accountants are required in every type of organization—from the government to corporate business to the world of non-profits—there are accounting roles for everyone.

Furthermore, within each of these types of career paths it is possible to specialize in a particular area of accounting, such as financial planning, cost accounting, auditing, and taxation. How has accounting changed?
